Kitesurf (Cloudflare)¶
Kitesurf is Cloudflare's browser built with agents as first-class citizens. It is described as "lean enough to run on Workers, spun up per request and thrown away after" — an ephemeral, per-request browser that delivers the content and features agents need without the bloat of human-oriented browser features (Source: sources/2026-08-06-cloudflare-building-an-open-agentic-internet).
Role in the Agentic Internet¶
Kitesurf is the client-side "readable" primitive of the Agentic Internet. Where Markdown for Agents addresses readability from the server side (serving low-token content), Kitesurf addresses it from the client side: an agent-oriented browser that avoids rendering CSS, hero images, and ads an agent never sees — every human-oriented tag rendered for an agent is "not only a waste of compute but also a pollution of the context window the agent then has to pay to ignore."
Design characteristics¶
- Workers-native: light enough to run inside the Workers runtime rather than a heavyweight headless-browser fleet.
- Per-request / disposable: instantiated for a request and discarded after, aligning with serverless / ephemeral-isolate economics (contrast with the longer-lived sessions of Browser Rendering).
- Agent-first feature set: strips human-UI concerns to reduce bandwidth and token cost.
