Grafana Session Replay¶
What it is¶
Session Replay is a capability of Grafana Cloud Frontend Observability that provides visual playback of a real user's journey — following a session from entry to exit so an engineer can see exactly what the user did before something broke (Source: sources/2026-08-24-grafana-from-failed-check-to-real-user-impact-pairing-synthetic-monitoring-and-frontend-observability).
It complements the metric and error signals of RUM with a qualitative, step-by-step reconstruction: where Core Web Vitals and JS-error aggregates tell you what degraded and how many were affected, Session Replay shows what the interaction actually looked like leading up to the failure.
Role in triage¶
In the closed-loop workflow, following the direct link from a failed synthetic check lands you in the captured session, where Session Replay is one of the views available (alongside the Page pivot to peer sessions). It is the "watch what the user did" step that grounds a blast-radius number in a concrete lived experience. See synthetic-alert-to-rum-pivot.
Stub¶
This page documents Session Replay only as surfaced in the 2026-08-24 source; full architecture (capture mechanism, DOM/mutation recording, privacy redaction) is not covered here.
