AWS Config¶
What it is¶
AWS Config is AWS's resource-configuration tracking and compliance-evaluation service — records resource state history, evaluates Config Rules against resources, aggregates multi-account / multi-region views via Config aggregators.
Partition scope¶
"For monitoring, AWS Config aggregators and AWS Security Hub instances must be configured separately in each partition, while consolidated billing can be managed through Organizations." (Source: sources/2026-01-30-aws-sovereign-failover-design-digital-sovereignty)
Config aggregators are per-partition. A sovereign-failover topology runs one aggregator in each partition; there is no cross-partition aggregator view.
