SynthID¶
SynthID is Google DeepMind's watermarking technology for AI-generated content (image, video, audio), embedding an imperceptible provenance signal so generated media can later be identified as machine-produced. (Source: sources/2026-09-24-google-automating-coherent-long-form-video-generation)
Role: inherited safety in an orchestration layer¶
SynthID is the wiki's example of safety inherited through the substrate. In the long-form-video co-director work, because the framework is an orchestration layer feeding structured prompts into Gemini and Veo, all generated images, video, and audio inherently carry SynthID watermarking — the higher-level multi-agent system gets watermarking for free rather than re-implementing it.
For production, the post notes SynthID is complemented by additional safety classifiers applied across the final video, to guard against unintended contextual interactions between individually-safe clips (clip-level safety does not compose to sequence-level safety automatically).
