Linear

Definition

Linear (linear.app) is a fast, modern issue-tracking and project-management tool. It appears in the wiki as an MCP adopter: Linear exposes its data to AI agents through a Model Context Protocol server so agents can access Linear in a simple, secure way.

As an MCP case study (2026-08-06)

In Cloudflare's MCP 2026-07-28 announcement, Linear's Head of Engineering framed MCP as a validation of open standards: build the server once on the shared spec and it works with whatever AI client the user brings, instead of building hundreds of bespoke integrations. Linear characterizes the 2026-07-28 iteration as making MCP server hosting "easier, more reliable, and at the same time [adding] much needed functionality" (Source: sources/2026-08-06-cloudflare-the-next-generation-of-mcp).

This is a datapoint for the write-once-on-the-standard value proposition of MCP โ€” the same argument that motivates a stateless protocol that any host can serve.
