@cloudflare/computer is a higher-level Cloudflare package that combines Dynamic Workers and Containers with a synchronized filesystem, presented as a single "computer" abstraction for agent workloads. Positioning

The 2026-09 Containers rearchitecture makes the low-level surface explicit and native: the Durable Object controls its Container directly through ctx.container, and Sandbox SDK 1.0 becomes a set of utilities rather than a base class. @cloudflare/computer sits above those primitives:

  • It fuses the two execution tiers — the millisecond isolate tier (Dynamic Workers) and the full-Linux micro-VM tier (Containers) — into one object.
  • The synchronized filesystem is the distinguishing feature: files are kept in sync across the combined environment so the isolate tier and the Linux tier see a coherent working directory.

This is the "brain / hands" split (see patterns/specialized-agent-decomposition) packaged as a product: lightweight isolated execution for the agent loop, a full Linux workspace for the hands, and a shared filesystem between them.
