BastionZero¶
BastionZero was a zero-trust infrastructure-access company that built the original (closed-source) OPKSSH implementation.
Acquired by Cloudflare in 2024 to add zero-trust infrastructure access to Cloudflare's portfolio. Post-acquisition, Cloudflare donated the OPKSSH code to the OpenPubkey Linux Foundation project under Apache 2.0 (2025-03-25), rather than keeping it proprietary under the Cloudflare brand.
Why this page exists¶
BastionZero is the historical origin of systems/opkssh — the acquisition path (BastionZero → Cloudflare → Linux Foundation) is load-bearing on the licensing story and on why the 2025-03-25 announcement reads as Cloudflare donating rather than launching the project.
Other BastionZero products / architecture are not covered by the currently-ingested source.
