Role in the S3 Vectors launch (2025-07-16)

SageMaker Unified Studio surfaces the Bedrock Knowledge Base component when building a chat-agent app. At S3 Vectors preview launch, S3 Vectors became selectable as the Vector store for a new Knowledge Base created inside SageMaker Unified Studio:

"You can create and manage knowledge bases with S3 Vectors in Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio when you build your generative AI applications through Amazon Bedrock. ... You can choose Amazon S3 Vectors as the Vector store when you create a new knowledge bases in the SageMaker Unified Studio."

Caveats

  • This page only captures the surface area touched by the S3 Vectors launch. Full SageMaker Unified Studio scope (data cataloging, project spaces, notebook integration, ML workflow orchestration) is not covered here.
